![]() ![]() But the people I ride with normally have Jap cruisers and my really close group of friends have some old KZ 400/440's. I'm not worried about the speed factor as much anymore, I guess I'm getting old and boring. I'm not too worried about the stereo because I prefer a full face helmet. I know this is the other end of the spectrum, but cruise and comfort would be nice for the boring roads up here. Has anyone rode one? I was going to test one last year but the dealer I went to really turned me off to the idea after I spoke with the salesman. Also, what about the Hurricane kit I've seen getting attention recently for the ninja?Īlso, although I will probably get flamed for this, I'm looking at a HD Street Glide. ![]() I think the wind protection of the ninja would be nice for freeway riding, which I will sometimes do.īodywork aside, how much does the handlebar risers help on the Z, I want to be a little more upright than in the past. If you’re diving into the world of motorcycle tuning, you’ve probably bumped into two buzzwords: ECU flashing and Power Commanders. The biggest thing is the extra gallon the ninja holds, is it really worth it? I don't foresee myself doing any touring but usually would throw on a backpack for a weekend stay at a friends. ECU flashes on modern day bikes don’t just give you more power, they make the bike a lot more friendly to ride. I already have a feeling the upperfairing on the ninja won't do much for me, but I could be wrong. Just wanting to get some Pros and Cons on both models from y'all. I'm already talking with the dealer where I bought my 3rd gen from, they have both Zs and Ninjas on hand. I've done some reading/searching and haven't found quite what I was looking for. Fast forward to now, and I'm at a much better job, closer to home ~28 miles, and I'm wanting to get back on two this spring. I liked to ride to work, which was about 45 miles away, with only 3 turns, and the Z just wasn't the bike for straight roads, for me anyway. ![]() However when I moved back to the country I got reacquainted with straight, boring roads rather quickly. A run across town, although only 10-15 miles at most, was just a fun ride without any discomfort. The comfort plays a huge role for me, When I was living in the city (Fort Wayne) the Z was perfect. Handling, for a bike of its size, the Duc handled extremely well. Comfort, I'm 6'4" and I was able to stretch out on the Duc a bit more. There were three things the Duc did better than the Kaw. After I started having the problems, I was really regretting getting rid of the Z. An ECU flash produces the greatest benefit on a modified bike, but even a bone-stock motorcycle can benefit, which means your standard emissions-related hardware would all still be intact. Also, I lost a friend/neighbor in an MC accident and decided to get away from riding for a bit. The result is often felt through smoother and better power. They lowered the fan temp to kick on at 200 instead of 220, advanced the ignition a bit to better utilize 91-93 pump, changed the speed the throttle bodies close I think so theres less of an engine braking. However, the typical Italian issues surfaced (mostly electrical) and I was faced with paying for a bike that I rarely rode due to the issues. The ecu flash changes the fuel and ignition maps. Its nothing earth shattering for our bikes really. I traded my 2010 Z in for a new Diavel last summer, and absolutely loved the bike.
